Through three quarters of play last night, with the Sixers and Jazz knotted at 78 each, the overriding narrative was as much about the state of the Philadelphia 76ers team as it was about Joel Embiid's individual greatness.
And make no mistake, Embiid was brilliant up to that point, with 33/8/8 in 26 minutes through the first three quarters of play, a virtuoso performance that was even more impressive because he had just logged 40 minutes, and scored 42 points, just 24 hours earlier. Still, up to that point it something we had seen before, a version of greatness that you can often take for granted when you're lucky enough to witness it on a regular basis.
